Updated: Apr 27, 2023

In today's fast-paced world, the ancient wisdom of Chinese strategist and philosopher Zhu Ge Liang (诸葛亮) remains relevant and inspiring. His teachings on leadership, known as the Art of War: General Conduct (將器), provide a framework for becoming a compassionate, wise, and strategic leader. As a feng shui master, I've had the privilege of advising many clients on how to incorporate these principles into their daily lives.

The Seven Principles of Enlightened Leadership

Zhu Ge Liang's Art of War emphasizes the importance of the following qualities in a leader:

  1. Compassionate, loyal to the country, well-versed in multiple fields, and practising justice and equality

  2. Prioritizing public service (公共服务为首要)

  3. Proper conduct and etiquette in words and actions

  4. Vigilance against crafty individuals to prevent disaster

  5. Possessing multiple strategies, bravery to make changes, and practicality

  6. Being a symbol of justice, courage, passion, and understanding

  7. Commitment to hard work, keeping promises, and good governance

Ask yourself these questions to evaluate your leadership:
