9.1 初九復自道，何其咎。吉
Yang on Line 1: Zhou returned to their homeland after gaining a small victory. How can this be a mistake? There will be good fortune. In the beginning, Zhou could celebrate only small gains. After an attack, they returned home to ground themselves and strengthen their home base. This was the right course of action, the honourable thing to do. accumulate wealth slowly and steadily. Buy and hold is the best strategy. in the same way, progress up the corporate ladder. while you should take pride in your accomplishments, by all means, be modest! Stay grounded.
9.2 九二牽復。吉
Yang on Line 2: It is fortunate to walk hand in hand with your partners. King Wen strengthened their bond by sharing this success with his allies. Give credit where credit is due. Praise those who have helped to make you successful. Reward your supporters for their efforts. Spreading the wealth will help to raise you to new levels.
9.3 九三輿說輻，夫妻反目
Yang on Line 3: The carriage wheel's brake is released, causing the husband and wife to quarrel. Zhou decision makers could not agree on many issues. Like a runaway carriage, their leadership was out of control. While some preferred more aggressive tactics, others wished to be more conservative and cautious. Dispute and discord will wreck your relationship/ enterprise. you cannot advance until there is an agreement.
9.4 六四有孚血。去惕出。无咎
Yin on Line 4: Sincerity and grasp of bloodshed will not bring regret. Loss of human life is inevitable in a revolution. To minimise deaths, King Wen proceeded with caution. Although warfare is undesirable, you must show how it helps your enterprise. If you install regulations in earnest, your supporters will not repel. Like bitter herbs that are distasteful, they are suitable for your health.
9.5 九五有孚攣如。富以其鄰
Yang on Line 5: Collaborating with others will attract support from neighbours who want to share the wealth. Those who pledged loyalty to King Wen were determined in their dedication. Such support led to a wealth of energy that attracted others to join this venture. Steadfast determination and enthusiasm will push your project forward. Expect others to rally to your cause.
9.6 上九既雨既。處尚德載。婦貞厲。月幾望；君子征凶
Yang on Line 6: It finally rained and then stopped. People were aware of the virtues, like women who observed chastity. Although reaching the full moon, launching a full-scale attack will bring misfortune. Zhou captured several secluded Shang castles to access their military skill. Yet, the time wasn't suitable for a full-scale invasion. They needed to mobilise more support and declare their intention to free the oppressed. Explain in fuller detail your ideas to those from whom you seek aid. Although the appropriate time is nearing, it is still early to launch your project.
