Wu Ji met his master. Wu Ji was originally a woodcutter. Jiang Ziya was fishing at Panxi. They encountered each other. Seeing Ziya using a straight hook for fishing, Wu Ji laughed. Ziya looked at Wu Ji and prophesied, "You will enter the city today and kill someone." Angry, Wu Ji left. When he carried firewood into the city, he accidentally caused the death of a royal minister. King Wen drew a circle on the ground as a prison. Later, Wu Ji was temporarily released to take care of his elderly mother until the autumn, when he was due to be executed. His mother asked him to seek help from Jiang Ziya. Taigong took him as a disciple, taught him military strategies, and asked him to dig a pit to break the innate number by casting a spell. After autumn, Wu Ji did not show up for his execution. King Wen interpreted the innate number, assuming that Wu Ji had committed suicide out of guilt. Later, King Wen ran into Wu Ji. Wu Ji led King Wen to meet Jiang Taigong and was then given the General of Martial Virtue title. The master and disciple both served King Wen.
