Understanding Taiji (Taichi) 太極

Updated: May 30

Taiji, or Tai Chi, is an ancient concept that means the "ultimate" or the "beginning." It's the idea that everything has a starting point or a core principle.

Taichi

The Role of Taichi in Creation

  • Taiji and the Universe: This principle, called Taichi, existed at the beginning of time. It caused everything to come into existence. Without Taichi, nothing would exist.

  • Connection to All Things: Taichi is the principle of Everything that has life or energy.

Taichi and the Balance of Yin and Yang

  • Yin and Yang: Once Taichi exists, it separates yin (negative) and yang (positive) energies, creating balance and harmony in the universe.

  • Heaven and Earth: Taiji helps establish the order of heaven and earth, mountains and lakes, and all-natural phenomena.

Practical Implications

  • Finding Taichi: In ancient practices like geomancy (feng shui), finding a place's Taichi is crucial. For example, when choosing a burial site (yin dwelling) or a house (yang dwelling), finding the spot with the best energy or qi is essential.

  • Golden Dragon: This is a metaphor for active energy. Recognising this energy helps harness it for better living conditions and future benefits.

Applying Taichi in Daily Life

  • Homes and Rooms: Each home and room has its own Taichi. The main area of a house has a central Taiji, and each room or section has its own. Understanding these helps optimise living conditions.

  • Impact on People: Where you live and how you align with Taichi affects your fortune and well-being. People in the same house might experience different outcomes based on their connection to Taichi.

Importance of Balance

  • Capturing and Harnessing Qi: In both living (yang) and burial (yin) spaces, capturing (short-term) and harnessing (long-term) energy is essential. Ideally, both should be balanced for the best outcomes.

  • Geometric Patterns and Landforms: Geomancy uses landforms and patterns to determine the best placement for homes and graves, ensuring they align with Taiji for optimal energy flow.

Summary

  • Taichi is the ultimate principle that creates and balances everything.

  • In practical terms, finding and aligning with Taichi in your environment can improve your fortune and well-being.

  • Both homes and burial sites benefit from understanding and using Taichi and energy flow.

  • By recognising and utilising Taichi, you can create harmony and balance in your life and environment.
