Like Lu, this is also meant to be a lesson the Duke of Zhou gave his young nephew, King Cheng Wang. It teaches him how to penetrate the hearts and minds of his subjects by being earnest.

57.0 小亨。利有攸往。利見大人
It is advantageous to proceed in any direction. It is beneficial to see the great man. The Duke of Zhou advised Cheng Wang to spread his message like the wind penetrating the hills and valleys. It is essential to voice your opinions/ objectives/ goals. Assemble your staff/ children and communicate your wants and needs. Be heard!
57.1 初六進利退，武人之貞
Yin on Line 1: Deciding whether to advance or retreat is like having the firmness of a military leader. Determination will carry your cause/ career/ relationship forward. You cannot afford to be hesitant.
57.2 九二巽在牀下。用史巫紛若。吉，无咎
Yang on Line 2: Communicate the message while kneeling before an altar. Employ diviners and exorcists. There will be fortune without fault. In ancient China, rulers used the name of Heaven to communicate their wishes to the people. When you preach your ideas to your associates/friends/family, show your sincerity as a clergyman would.
57.3 九三頻巽吝
Yang on Line 3: Penetrating too deep will bring disrespect. Do not beat people with your opinion/cause/concern. Such action is disrespectful. Do you want to be known as a fanatic or zealot?
57.4 六四悔亡。田獲三品
Yin on Line 4: Forget about regrettable events. Hunt, and you will find a bountiful game. It would be best not to let setbacks, and unfortunate happenings bother you. By all means, please don't dwell on them! Instead, do something constructive to curtail your misfortune, and you will see positive results.
57.5 九五貞吉，悔亡。无不利。无初有終。先庚三日；後庚三日吉
Yang on Line 5: Find fortune in persevering. It is advantageous to forget about remorseful
events. Although the beginning is not favourable, the ending is. Before taking action, ponder for three days. Upon taking action, watch the result for three days. Carefully think through your decision before putting it into action. While the outcome may bring difficulties initially, you have not made a mistake. Monitor the progress of your decision.
57.6 上九巽在牀。下喪其資斧。貞凶
Yang on Line 6: Even though you kneel before the altar to communicate your message, it won't be perfect for persisting if you have lost your means. Here, "means" refers to losing the trust of your partner/ staff/ friends/ family. You will gain a bad reputation if you do not follow your promises. No matter how sincere you appear this time, you will not acquire any support.
